I called again for the 4th time today to check on the status of my sewing machine, and apparently they finished working on it late Monday and didn't bother to call and tell me. Ordinarily I wouldn't be such a crotchety old geezer about it, but 1) I've been without a machine for almost 2 weeks and was going CRAZY, and 2) the exact same thing happened the last time I took it there. Good thing I have this posted in my cubicle to give me perspective when the anger monkeys start acting up!
So now, I'll finally be able to finish my January bee blocks. I feel terrible I'm late, because I was inexcusably late with my November blocks and promised my bee I wouldn't do it again. I notified January's queen bee about the problem, but I still feel really guilty about it...especially since I'm one of the Moderators :( It's frustrating because I would've had enough time to finish them had my machine not crapped out on me!
So anyway, here are some fun pictures to counteract my pity party! My husband's aunt and uncle have a really awesome condo in Gulfport, so we went over there to celebrate my brother-in-law's girlfriend's birthday (that's a mouthful, isn't it?) this past weekend. His uncle suggested a BBQ place called The Shack. Our group was so large we had to take two cars, and when he was giving us directions, he made the mistake of telling us it was located in a gravel parking lot inside a campground. We were skeptical. I was very skeptical. When we drove up, the exterior looked like this. I thought to myself "is this really where we want to take his new girlfriend for her birthday?" Thankfully, she got out of the car without the use of force.
Plus the place got really quiet when we walked in and everyone stared...HARD (I swear I'm not making this up). Turns out the food was outta this world delicious. That'll teach me to judge. Oh, and seeing this sign when we walked in also helped ease my mind. I figured the owners couldn't be all bad if they had a sense of humor like this....
Oh, and did I mention they had one of my most favorite things in the world...glass-bottle Cokes? The only way it could've been better is if they were bottled in Mexico. So tasty.
And Ray ordered the best ribs either one of us has ever had. They were so tender we flaked the meat off the bone with a plastic fork. He gave me the "crazy eyes" after he ate the full rack....partially because he was alarmingly full, and partially because he was blown away by the ribtastic-taste-explosion.
Another fun tidbit. Patrons get to write messages on the ceiling and stab dollar bills into it with a fork.
And what would a birthday be without cake?
And while the birthday girl decided to tear into a praline while we were waiting for someone to find a non-plastic knife to cut the cake....
...I had a few ideas of my own to curb the sugar cravings. It doesn't count as a "party foul" because technically the birthday girl still got the first piece (just not the first bite ::wink::)
And after the cake had been massacred, the little Telschow piggies rolled all the way home...and slipped into food comas.
